A narrow stone breakwater extending into Funchal harbor, ending at a small lighthouse. Built on volcanic rock, it sits between the city and the open Atlantic. The walk out along the pier gives you Funchal's entire waterfront behind you and the ocean in front.
Works well in late afternoon when the light crosses the water from the west. The cliffs east of the city make a strong backdrop. Quiet on weekday mornings.
