Wedding Photography on Madeira

Wedding Photography on Madeira

A wedding on Madeira is not a wedding in a hall with a view. The island gets into the day: the walk down from the church into a fishing village, the wind off the Atlantic on a terrace, the light dropping behind the ridge while the toasts are still going. I photograph all of it, and I stay out of the way while I do it.

One fixed price for the whole day, EUR 1500. Preparations through to the evening, the ceremony, your guests, and time with just the two of you somewhere on the island. No hourly counting, no packages to compare, no limit on how many edited photos come back.

I have been photographing weddings for 18 years, on this island and before it. Small ceremonies of two people and days with a hundred guests work the same way: I learn the plan, I know where the light will be, and then I follow the day rather than direct it.

Getting married at the Funchal registry office, or eloping with nobody but the two of you? Both work. Tell me the date early: weddings take the whole day, so I only take one per date.

Weddings before Madeira

I photographed weddings for years before this island, most of them in Thailand. Different sea, same job: stay close, stay out of the way, come back with the day as it happened. These frames are from that work, not from Madeira.

Common questions

How do I book a session?

+

Send me a WhatsApp message with your preferred dates and the type of session you have in mind. I usually respond within the hour to confirm availability and answer any questions.

How far in advance should I book?

+

For peak months (April through October), 2 to 4 weeks in advance is typical. For specific dates during holidays or popular travel weeks, earlier is safer. Last-minute sessions are sometimes possible. Just ask.

Do you require a deposit?

+

No. Your word holds the date. You pay on the day of the session, cash or bank transfer.

What if I need to cancel?

+

No problem. Tell me as early as you can and we reschedule or let it go. No fees, no paperwork.

How do you direct people who are not comfortable in front of a camera?

+

I give one or two simple directions at the start, then I step back. Most of the frames I use come from moments between poses: when you look at each other, when someone laughs at something. You don't need to perform.

Can we bring our dog?

+

Yes.

What should we wear?

+

Avoid strong patterns and matching outfits. They age quickly in photos and pull attention away from faces. Soft, muted colors work well against Madeira's landscapes. Layers are practical because temperatures vary a lot between the coast and the mountains.

How many locations do we visit?

+

Depends on the scope. Short: 1 location. Classic: 1–2 locations. Extended: 2–3 locations. VIP Day: 4–5 locations. I plan the route.

When do we receive the photos?

+

Standard delivery is 10 days after the session. Express delivery (24 hours) is available for an additional fee.

How are photos delivered?

+

Via a private download link sent to your WhatsApp or email. You receive high-resolution JPEGs, ready for printing, sharing, or any personal use.

How many photos do we receive?

+

Short: 25–30. Classic: 50–70. Extended: 150. VIP Day: 200+. These are minimums. I usually deliver slightly more.
